Driving Courses

The Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce and West Central Ohio Safety Council offer a Remedial Driving Course and a Juvenile Driver Improvement Course.

Remedial Driving Course:

This course is offered once a month from 8:00am-5:30pm and is held at 109 North Union. Class is limited to 24 students and must be pre-paid and a picture I.D. is required.  The fee is $100.00.

Adult 2023 Classes:

August 12th
September 164h
October 14th
November 11th
December 9th

The Remedial Course addresses the following defensive driving topics:

  • Personal Responsibility and Driving
  • Defensive Driving
  • Preventable Collisions
  • Hazard Recognition
  • The Driving Environment: Driver Conditions, Other Drivers, Light Conditions, Roads and Road Conditions, Weather Conditions, Vehicle Condition and Equipment
  • Avoiding Collisions
  • Choosing Safe & Legal Behaviors

This course is sanctioned by the National Safety Council and co-sponsored by the West Central Ohio Safety Council.

Juvenile Driver Improvement Course

This course is offered once every other month from 9:00am-3:00pm and is held at 144 S. Main Street Suite 100.  The fee is $75.00 payable to Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce by pre-registering at the Lima/Allen County Chamber or online – lunch is not provided however a lunch break is given.  Classes are limited to 24 students and a picture I.D. is required.

The Juvenile Course addresses the following defensive driving topics:

Session One – Risk and Perceptual Awareness
  • Risk and Perceptual Awareness
    • Driver’s Behavior
    • 6 Pillars of Character
    • Speeding
    • Being a Defensive Driver
Session Two – Risk Awareness Assessment
  • Risk Awareness Assessment
    • Identifying Risks
    • Driving Errors
    • Consequences and Drivers Actions
Session Three
  • Driver Behavior
  • Drugs and Driving
  • Collision Factors
  • Driver Assessment

The course will help young drivers to understand the responsibility of being a defensive driver.
