CELEBRATING A REMARKABLE CAREER: THE JOURNEY OF JENNY HOLTSBERRY

Born on August 11, 1959, and raised in the heart of Lima, Ohio, Jenny Holtsberry’s story is a testament to the power of hard work, dedication, and embracing change. From humble beginnings as a bus girl at Gregg’s Department Store to her illustrious tenure as the Digital Marketing Manager at The Lima News, Jenny’s journey is nothing short of inspiring.

Jenny’s foray into the professional world began at the tender age of 15 when she took on the role of a bus girl at the restaurant in Gregg’s Department Store. Little did she know that this job would be the stepping stone to a remarkable career. It was here that her exceptional work ethic caught the eye of the advertising director of The Lima News, who saw in Jenny the potential for greatness.

Encouraged by the director’s words, Jenny embarked on a journey of self-improvement, learning to type fast and mastering bookkeeping. Her determination paid off when, at the age of 19, she joined The Lima News as a Secretary. Despite initial challenges, including the infamous blizzard of 1978, Jenny persevered and quickly climbed the ranks within the organization.

Throughout her tenure, Jenny witnessed significant transformations within the newspaper industry, from the transition to digital formats to changes in office locations. Yet, amidst these changes, Jenny remained steadfast in her commitment to delivering excellence in her role. Her dedication and passion for her work saw her rise through various positions, from Pre-Print Coordinator to Outside Sales Manager, leaving an indelible mark on the newspaper and the community it serves.

Reflecting on her career highlights, Jenny fondly recalls her role in developing creative campaigns for clients, forging connections with small businesses, and actively participating in networking groups such as those offered by the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce, Sertoma, and BNI. Her ability to build meaningful relationships not only enriched her professional life but also contributed to the vibrant fabric of the Lima community.

When asked about the secrets to her success, Jenny offers invaluable advice: embrace change and cultivate the right personality. In a constantly evolving industry, adaptability is key, and Jenny’s willingness to embrace change has been instrumental in her journey. Moreover, she emphasizes the importance of interpersonal skills, recognizing that relationships and connections are often the driving forces behind professional success.

As Jenny bids farewell to her esteemed career at The Lima News, she looks forward to embarking on a new chapter of her life as a snowbird, basking in the warmth of Florida’s sunshine during the winter months and returning to the familiar shores of Indian Lake in the summer. Her legacy as a dedicated professional and community leader will undoubtedly endure, leaving an indelible imprint on all those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her.

On behalf of the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce and the entire Lima community, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Jenny for her unwavering commitment and contributions. Congratulations, Jenny, on a career well-lived, and may your retirement be filled with joy, relaxation, and lots of sunshine. Here’s to the next chapter of your extraordinary journey!
