Title #1: Newcomer Coalition Administrator

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Newcomer Coalition Administrator to assist the Newcomer Coalition and Community Navigator achieve his or her goals to develop a structure whereby newcomers to our community, particularly refugees and immigrants, can find stability, reach self-sufficiency, and achieve successful integration into the Greater Lima Region.

Responsibilities:

Schedule, plan, facilitate on-going newcomer coalition meetings

Track goals and plans of coalition subcommittees and share content with those who need the information

Develop and organize on-line sharing platform for coalition members to host coalition materials as well as navigator materials to share as needed

Work closely with Newcomer Navigator to understand her or his work and be able to communicate to the community regarding the work as needed

Develop social and media plans to share the work of the coalition and navigator

This is a part-time role, working 10-15 hours per week. While flexible, preference is for working across 4-5 days in short time frames. Adjustments can be needed as work (or life) dictates, in communication with leadership.

Pay is $20/hour

Title #2: Newcomer Navigator

Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Navigator to assist individuals and families who are immigrating to Allen County, OH, and Lima. As Navigator, you will play a crucial role in developing a structure whereby newcomers to our community, particularly refugees and immigrants, can find stability, reach self-sufficiency, and achieve successful integration into the Greater Lima Region.

Responsibilities:

Serve as a liaison between immigrants and relevant community organizations, government agencies, and service providers in support of newcomers becoming self-sufficient.

Assist immigrants in accessing available resources, programs, and services tailored to their needs. Maintain accurate records and documentation of client interactions and service referrals.

Offer guidance, resources and advocacy to immigrants facing legal, bureaucratic, or cultural barriers.

Conduct, and help coordinate others to provide, outreach and educational workshops in raising awareness about immigrant rights, available services, and community resources.

Collaborate with local businesses to ensure they can effectively serve the immigrant population, including providing cultural competency training and facilitating communication.

Support the creation of an affiliation group, so that newcomers can build trust and support systems from within the community.

Stay informed about changes in immigration policies, regulations, and community resources to provide up-to-date assistance.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in social work, sociology, international studies, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Experience working with immigrant communities and a strong understanding of the challenges they face.

Knowledge of local resources and services available to immigrants in Allen County, OH, and Lima.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft suite, Outlook, Word and Excel.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency in a second language preferred, particularly Haitian Creole.

Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards immigrants and their experiences.

Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the evolving needs of the community.

Commitment to upholding ethical standards and confidentiality in all interactions.

This is a part-time role, expected to work 25-30 hours a week. While hours can be flexible, most will be worked on a set schedule during the work week. Occasional evenings and weekends as the work dictates, for example, attending information sessions and luncheons for target populations. This position pays $25/hour.
