Awards Gala

The Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the 17th Annual Awards Gala on May 1, 2019.  

This is an elegant evening with over 350 attendees is where we recognize area businesses and leaders for their outstanding accomplishments.

This is an elegant evening at which we recognize area businesses and leaders for outstanding accomplishments.

Tickets are $45 each and $320 for a table of eight for members and $50 each and $360 for a table of eight for future members.

SMALL BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD

To be considered for the Small Business of the Year Award, the nominated businesses must meet the following criteria:

  • The business must be independently owned and operated with a substantial history as an established business.
  • The business must be financially strong and profitable, and be able to show a history of growth in sales dollars and/or volume.
  • The business principal or organization must have demonstrated community involvement and/or made some civic contributions.
  • The business must employ no more than 150 employees.
  • The business must have been in business for at least 5 years.

NON PROFIT OF THE YEAR AWARD

This award recognizes an outstanding non-profit organization in the community.

To be considered for the Non-Profit of the Year Award, the nominated organizations must meet the following criteria:

  • A description of the most important agency activity of the past year that benefited the community.
  • The agency must be a non-profit, public or private sector 501 (c) 3 that provides a service to people in the Lima/Allen County area.
  • The agency promotes a safe and accessible workplace and service.
  • The agency must be financially sound.
  • The agency mentors new employees, volunteers, and board members through adequate training.
  • The agency participates and supports collaborative efforts among non-profits and organization in the community
  • The agency provides a description of how their services improve the Allen County economy.

WOMAN OWNED BUSINESS OF THE YEAR

This award recognizes an outstanding Woman Owned Business in the community.

To be considered for the Woman-Owned Business of the Year Award, the nominated businesses must meet the following criteria:

  • The business must be 51% woman-owned.
  • The business must be financially strong and profitable, and be able to show a history of growth in sales dollars and/or volume.
  • The business principal or organization must have demonstrated community involvement and/or made some civic contributions.
  • The business must employ no more than 150 employees.

EMERGING BUSINESS OF THE YEAR

To be considered for the Emerging Business of the Year Award, the nominated businesses must meet the following criteria:

  • The business must be independently owned and operated with an operational history between eighteen months and five years.
  • The business should exemplify a unique business idea, marketing approach, and/or management style that have contributed to its growth and success.
  • The business must establish its transition from a start-up to an emerging business by documenting increased sales volume and/or operational profitability, the introduction of unique or innovative products or services, job creation/retention, and other indicators recognized within its industry and community.
  • The business principal must demonstrate community involvement and/or civic contributions.

YOUNG LEADER OF THE YEAR AWARD

To be considered for the Young Leader of the Year Award, the nominees must meet the following criteria:

  • Applicant must be between 20 and 40 years of age.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years professional experience within their current field.
  • Has devoted time to improving the quality of life of others through civic and community service.
  • Actively developing leadership skills and demonstrating growth toward future goals.

ATHENA AWARD

To be considered for the ATHENA Award, the nominees must meet the following criteria:

  • Has demonstrated excellence, creativity, and initiative in their business or profession.
  • Has provided valuable service by devoting time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community.
  • Most importantly has assisted women in reaching their full leadership potential.
